Lots of Family Visits

With the new baby we have had a lot of opportunities to see family. We have really enjoyed all the time with family. I had my mom here for 10 days when Prairie was born, and then my dad came for a week. I think I am going to have family withdrawl when my dad leaves tomorrow. We have been seeing some of our extended family here in Utah more too, because everyone wants to see the new baby. We are really excited because on Thursday night we leave to drive back to Iowa for Ben's little sister's high school graduation. Then Prairie will get to meet her Oviatt grandparents.


This is Ben's Gram. She came to visit us in Provo and brought homemade quilts for both of the girls. She also brough bubbles to do with Autumn out in the yard. Autumn loved doing the bubbles.


Autumn has been doing really well as an older sister. This was probably her favorite thing she has doen with Prairie. She really enjoyed pushing Prairie around in her baby stroller, and started crying really hard when her Dad took Prairie out of the stroller. She has been telling me that Prairie is her friend, and this morning she was singing a little song where she was saying "I love Prairie" to her own little melody. It is a lot of fun to see Autumn interact with Prairie.

It's a Girl!

Prairie Oviatt Weinheimer was born a week ago on May 7^th at 9:57pm MST. She was 8 lbs. 0 oz and 20.5 inches long. I did an unmedicated birth again. It was a little more difficult for me this time than with Autumn, I think that is because I had back labor also. The pushing went great, it was so fast, like maybe 10 minutes and I didn’t need any stitches.

We have had a great week. Grandma Ciccotelli was here until last night and really aided in my transition of having two children. Prairie is a really sweet baby. She is an amazing sleeper. She is already sleeping 4-5 hour stretches at night without us trying to help her sleep that long. She really likes being swaddled tightly. If she gets at all fussy, she just needs to be swaddled with both of her arms down, have the pacifier for a minute and she immediately calms down.

Autumn seems to be adjusting pretty well to having a little sister. Whenever she gets up from her nap she asks where Prairie is, and when we are changing her diaper she runs in to help, and if she hears Prairie crying she immediately finds a pacifier without us asking her and brings it to us to help calm Prairie down. Autumn has really liked all the matching clothes that I made them. I made matching green pajamas for Autumn, Prairie and baby Atticus (Autumn’s doll) for the first night home from the hospital. Well Prairie’s got dirty so the second night Prairie couldn’t wear hers and Autumn was really upset that Prairie couldn’t wear her green pajamas, but then we showed her that they had matching big bird pajamas and then she was happy.

No Baby Yet

When people call they keep asking if we have had the baby, and we have not. I am only 5 days overdue, I went 10 days with Autumn, so I figure it could be a few more days still since I don’t want to be induced. My mom went 10 days over with me, and then 13 days over with my younger sister, so maybe going over is a family thing or something.

Autumn has been really enjoying her new bedroom, when her Aunt Jennie comes over she always wants her to come to her bedroom and play, instead of being social in the front room.

The other day while I was on the phone Autumn was really excited when she was exploring the kitchen and found the measuring cups. I was just glad she was entertained, and didn’t really understand what she was saying, but she was really excited about the cups. I was then in the laundry room doing some laundry, and then Autumn comes in and tells me that she needs help wiping since she has been going to the bathroom. Then I go in the bathroom help her wipe, and notice my measuring cup on the back of the toilet with yellow droplets all over it. Then I exclaimed what happened to my measuring cup, and Autumn told me it was her pee cup. I could only figure that she has come to enough midwife appointments where Ben hasn’t been there, so she has seen me pee in the cup and then give them the sample. So I think she was peeing in the cup. Luckily we have a dishwasher now, so that measuring cup got thoroughly cleaned.

Autumn has been really excited about her grandparents coming to visit because of the new baby. Her Grandma Ciccotelli got her on Wednesday night. Wednesday during the day I had to go to the store to get a couple of things. Autumn was so excited because she saw an Elmo placemat. She asked if we could get it, and I told her not today. Then Autumn said, “That’s okay, Grandma get it for me” very matter-of-factly.

Autumn went to the grocery store with Grandma today and told her that our new house didn’t have marshmallows so they had to get them. Then at one point Grandma asks Autumn what else they need to get, and Autumn stops and thinks and then says “we need popsicles” and they weren’t in the frozen food sections. I think Autumn knows how to milk her Grandma.

The other day Autumn was going to the potty and she wanted me to talk to her while she was going, so I was working on organizing our bathroom a little bit better. She kept asking me over and over if I was “so scited (excited) for baby come?!” I told her that I was so excited, and then a little while later she would ask me again. She probably asked me 4 times. I hung up our shower curtain, and when I was all done Autumn came in the bathroom and exclaimed “Mommy its beautiful”. It was so cute. She makes me so happy, and constantly keeping us entertained.
